What clean books buy you

Bookkeeping is the work.
Clarity is the outcome.

More time

Hand off the categorizing, reconciling, and chasing receipts. Get your evenings back for the work — and the people — that actually need you.

Better decisions

Hire? Raise prices? Buy the equipment? Decide from real numbers instead of a gut feeling and a bank balance.

Stress-free tax season

Your CPA gets clean, reconciled, tax-ready books in January — not a shoebox in April. Fewer questions, lower prep bills.

Accurate financials

Every account reconciled, every transaction categorized, every report tied out. Numbers you can put in front of a lender or a board.

Healthy cash flow

See what’s coming in, what’s going out, and what’s coming due — early enough to do something about it. Cash flow surprises become cash flow plans.

Your monthly clarity report

This is what your numbers
look like with us.

Every month, a clear picture of your business — reconciled, explained, and ready to act on.

How it works

From shoebox to clarity
in three steps.

  1. 01

    Connect

A short call to understand your business, then secure, read-only connections to your bank, credit cards, and QuickBooks. Setup takes about a week.

  2. 02

    Organize

We catch up or clean up whatever needs it, build a chart of accounts that matches how you actually operate, and get every account reconciled.

  3. 03

    Grow

Every month: books closed by the 10th, reports in your inbox, and a plain-English summary of what changed — plus a person to ask when something doesn’t make sense.

About the founder

Your numbers deserve
someone who cares.

Mulberry Grove was founded by Nelson Matos, a finance professional who spends his days managing budgets, audits, and payroll for a public school district — and built this practice to bring that same rigor to small businesses that can’t justify a full finance department.

He works with a deliberately small roster of service businesses, growing companies, and faith-based organizations. The promise is simple: your books are accurate, your reports arrive on time, and when you have a question, you talk to the person who actually does the work.

  • Public-sector finance background — budgets, audits, payroll, compliance
  • QuickBooks Online certified
  • Fully virtual — serving clients across the U.S.

From clients

What clarity sounds like.

“For the first time, I opened my monthly report and actually understood it. The summary at the top tells me exactly what changed and why.”
SarahHome services owner
“We were fourteen months behind. They caught everything up, fixed the mess, and our CPA said it was the cleanest set of books we’ve ever sent him.”
MarcusConsulting firm principal
“As a church treasurer, accountability matters to us. Having reconciled statements ready for our board every month has been a gift.”

Questions

Asked often. Answered plainly.

Every month we categorize all transactions, reconcile every bank and credit card account, and deliver a profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow report — with a short written summary of what changed and what to keep an eye on.

Not at all — catch-up work is a core service. We scope it as a fixed-fee project so there are no surprises, rebuild the back months, and then move you onto a normal monthly rhythm.

No — we make them more effective. Clean, reconciled books mean your tax professional spends time on strategy instead of cleanup, which usually lowers your prep bill. We’re happy to coordinate with them directly.

Through bank-level, read-only connections — we can see transactions to do the work, but we can never move money. QuickBooks access is granted through accountant-level permissions you control and can revoke anytime.

Monthly bookkeeping is flat-rate pricing based on transaction volume and number of accounts — quoted up front, no hourly billing, no surprise invoices. Most clients know their exact cost before we begin.

Yes — churches and ministries are a focus of the practice. We understand fund accounting concerns, designated giving, and the level of board-ready transparency stewardship requires.
